Full-stack product development for IRCTC's hyperlocal delivery partner

From scratch to product launch, how Bluetick helped Trapigo, a logistics last-mile hyperlocal delivery start-up deliver food to passengers in Indian Railways.

“Bluetick Consultants developers and engineers are great in coordinating between teams to facilitate the completion of company-wide goals through web development. Their team helped us with developing the Trapigo delivery platforms, UI design and played a significant role in tech-stack development”

What was the business problem which we solved?

From scratch to product launch, how Bluetick helped Trapigo, a logistics last-mile hyperlocal delivery start-up delivers food to passengers in Indian Railways.
Bluetick Consultants did a job which looked like a distant dream for many - enabling a B2B logistics hyper-local delivery-focused Indian start-up Trapigo, founded by a group of IIT, IIM, NIFT, and NID alumni - deliver food on an operational train. Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) partnered with Trapigo to enable the delivery of hot and fresh food from the choicest restaurant to passengers inside the train. As a technology partner, Our engineers were entrusted to develop the most accurate algorithms to ensure timely delivery of the food at the correct train compartment on time.

How Bluetick Consultants made it happen?

With an accurate understanding of the client’s business and functional requirements, Bluetick engineers conducted brainstorming sessions and designed empathy maps for a deeper understanding of consumer behavior, ideated product workflows for multiple personas involved, and iteratively created low fidelity prototypes and sketches before coming up with the product. Sprint meetings were common and product owners were highly competent with complete ownership of the development and implementation phase. Bluetick also designed with the Operation management ERP with roles for nodal managers, delivery executives, station masters, and super admin. We also integrated our solution with IRCTC APIs to fetch the correct time of arrival, platform numbers, coaches, and PNR. This integration along with an android app with real-time notifications to the delivery executives, accounts, and reports to the nodal managers, reconciliation with IRCTC databases, and self-learning algorithm for allocation of orders to delivery executives ensured the process is executed with utmost accuracy. Our team also took cognizance of the last-minute changes in the arrival time of the trains and the GPS traffic in the existing railway route, thus providing a smooth user experience to the passengers.

What technology solution we provided?

We has earlier meetings to understand user flow and critical data points to deliver order. We started work on order allocation algorithm to delivery executives. The algorithm took lot of time to come up to a good shape. Thereafter, we worked on building an ERP with different roles and access. With robust and highly available application server and building secure APIs for android application to consume.

What major challenge did we face?

Training machine learning models to adjust to the last minute changes of train arrivals and departures, specific positioning of the train compartment according to the delivery executives, ensuring on-time delivery, and thus excellent end-user experience.

What results our client got?

Bluetick ensured the application and the entire business model is tech-enabled and is operational within a limited time period. The work done by our rockstar developers helped Trapigo given an unparalleled experience in B2B hyper-local delivery space and added a new feather to IRCTC’s customer experience. It was a delight for Trapigo to experience our 3E strategy – Envision. Engage. Expedite
